9 november 2016 - Auckland. Het raften was echt superleuk! Een boot was omgeslagen bij de 7 meter hoge waterval, maar onze ervaren crew bracht het er ongeschonden vanaf. Na het raften zijn Emma en ik in de auto gestapt op weg naar het Noordland, het gebied boven Auckland. Anna besloot terug te gaan naar Taupo. Na nog een ochtendje op het strand te hebben gelegen in Ahipara zijn we weer in de auto gestapt om langzaam via de westkust naar Auckland te rijden.

Two things still stand out in my memory; a young Ovambo Sparrowhawk which had caught a Green Wood-hoopoe perched in a tree before moving away.
